Write it down – Remembering those who served
A Possible National Scheme to document the stories of the Defence Force
The story can be a short overview of the person’s life and service. The young could write this down and ask questions of the older generation with service history. The older ones can note down as much as they can, or talk to a younger family member and I the current serving generation can write a biography; a one page with the key parts to the story, or maybe just one favourite memory. Completed forms or copies may be sent to suitable repository such as family lawyer, local library or service organisation. A copy should be kept by the family. As yet this is an unsupported project so it is up to the family to ensure a copy is kept until a co-ordinated scheme is set up. There is also no problem for this to be used across other careers although some modification of the template will be needed.
